Your approach with my father was most successful because you did not treat my dad like an ill person who had lost touch with reality. Your caregivers’ efforts to daily stimulate him, humor him, and help him maintain some sense of pride by respecting him and being considerate of his needs, contributed more than anything to his quality of life.
